Chapter 21 : Bastard
It was already noon when Zhou Sui woke up. Zhou An was not around. She got out of bed in a hurry to look for her, but her legs went weak and she stumbled back onto the bed. Her limbs ached unbearably, as if they had been run over by a car wheel. Her arms were so sore that she couldn't lift them, and her legs were shaking constantly.
She sat on the bed and relaxed, then looked down to see that she was neatly dressed, probably with the help of Xing Ming. She was wearing all black, long sleeves and long pants, even socks.
She held the bed and leaned against the wall and walked outside step by step. The moment she opened the door, she was frightened by the uniformed soldiers at the door and took a few steps back. Then she saw Zhou An standing next to the man.
"An An!" She was horrified, and strength suddenly surged in her body. She took a few steps to Zhou An, protected her behind her, and pushed her into the room, "Go in and don't come out."
"Hello, I'm from the Armed Police Border Defense Team." The man was wearing a turquoise uniform and holding a gun in his arms. He was tall, with a rough complexion and big eyes. "If you woke up, come with me."
"Go, where to?" Zhou Sui stared at the gun in his arms, not daring to let her guard down.
The other party raised the muzzle of the gun and said to her, "A safe place."
Zhou Sui looked around and didn't see Xing Ming. She asked in a hoarse voice, "You, how did you know we were here?"
"We came here to check and saw her." He pointed at Zhou An, "Don't worry, I'm really not a bad person."
Zhou An hid behind her and whispered, "I came out because I smelled the fragrance."
She had a fever last night, and the fever was gone when she woke up today, but she was very hungry. When she saw food on the table, she came out to eat. Unexpectedly, there was a man outside. She cried out of fear at first, but then the man said he was here to take them home. She stopped crying and waited for her sister to wake up with the man.
"It's okay." Zhou Sui patted her head soothingly. She always felt that things were not that simple, but her mind was very confused and she couldn't think of anything she had missed.
"There are other people downstairs. If you don't believe me, you can go and ask." The other man walked a few steps out with a gun in his hand. "If you want to leave, hurry up. We will evacuate soon."
Zhou Sui gritted his teeth and pulled Zhou An to follow him: "Wait for us."
There were indeed a few people downstairs, including women and old people. Without exception, they were disheveled and would pounce on any food they saw. They all ran out of the shelter because they were so hungry that they could not bear it. Although there was food outside, they had to risk their lives to get that bite.
Zhou Sui didn't know how to contact Xing Ming. Maybe when he came over, he would find that she was gone, or maybe he would evacuate to a safe place. She looked out the window and saw the devastation after the war everywhere, destroyed high-rise buildings, blood-stained ground, and piles of corpses.
She saw one off-road vehicle after another passing by. She craned her neck to look and a woman next to her asked in surprise, "Is the rescue team here?"
A paramilitary police officer holding a gun was sitting in the passenger seat. When he heard the voice, he turned around and answered, "Yes."
This time the enemy directly bombed the police force, causing heavy losses. The police force was caught off guard in a short period of time. The residents fled in panic and accidentally stepped on the mines set up to prevent war. Countless casualties occurred in a short time.
Zhou Sui hugged Zhou An and said, "An An, we can go home soon."
Zhou An burst into tears: "I miss mom and dad."
"Me too." Zhou Sui touched her head, "Mom and Dad will be fine."
Zhou An was hit by something in Zhou Sui's pants and reached out to touch it: "Sister, what is that?"
Zhou Sui took out a dagger from her pocket.
It was given to her by Xing Ming.
There was something in the other pocket as well. She reached in and found a sausage.
Thinking of last night, the obscene scene flashed before her eyes again.
She cursed softly in her mind.
'Bastard'.
