God - Chapter 5
Chapter 5: I'm sorry
That night, everyone waited until one o'clock in the morning but no rescue team arrived.
Zhou An was so hungry that she kept drinking water and couldn't sleep even when she laid down, crying silently.
On their first day here, Zhou An kept crying loudly and Zhou Sui kept comforting her. Later, people in District N kicked them out because she was too noisy. Zhou Sui held Zhou An in the bathroom for more than an hour. After Zhou An stopped crying, they came out.
Zhou An knew that people here wouldn't let her cry, and she would be kicked out if she cried, so she would rather hide in her sister's arms and wipe her tears than dare to cry and make any noise.
Zhou Sui tore open the lollipop and handed it to Zhou An. Zhou An took two bites and handed it to her: "Sister, take a bite."
Zhou Sui put it in her mouth and tasted it: "It's very sweet, you can eat it. "
The fresh orange flavor filled the mouth, stimulating the taste buds. Hunger forced the mouth to secrete saliva continuously, and the stomach seemed to be singing. Zhou Sui could hear this sound every day. At first, her stomach would hurt, but later she became numb. As long as they sleep, they can conserve their energy - enough to support them until they are rescued.
Zhou Sui wiped away the tears on Zhou An's face, kissed her face, and stared blankly into the distance. She didn't know how long they could last.
At five o'clock in the morning, Zhou Sui was woken up by an aunt next to her. The middle-aged woman in her fifties knelt in front of her with her hands clasped together, and two lines of tears rolled down her face: "I beg you, can you help me get some antipyretic medicine from upstairs? I don’t have money to give you, I know... I know and I’m sorry for saying this, but my husband is dying..."
Zhou Sui looked at the middle-aged man beside her. In just a few days, he seemed to have aged dozens of years. He became thinner than before, and now he was lying on the ground, his face covered with sweat, and he was breathing heavily with his mouth open.
Zhou Sui turned away her face: "I can't..."
The aunt covered her face and cried until she couldn't breathe: "I'm sorry, I'm sorry..."
Zhou Sui glanced at the people around him. They didn't know whether they were waiting for rescue or waiting for death. Everyone was lying quietly on the ground. It was already dawn, but no one wanted to wake up, as if the dream was the world they wanted to reach.
The reality is only pain and hunger.
Zhou An woke up and wanted to go to the bathroom. Zhou Sui pulled her over. When she was walking through the L area, she happened to meet Xing Ming patrolling. He had a cigarette between his fingers and was smoking against the wall. He probably noticed Zhou Sui's gaze, and suddenly turned his head and looked over.
His long, narrow, sharp eyes were filled with endless coldness.
Zhou Sui was startled by those eyes, and her footsteps suddenly stopped there. Xing Ming saw her, the coldness in his eyes dissipated a little. He lowered his head and took a puff of cigarette. Seeing that the two sisters were still standing there motionless, he raised the corners of his lips slightly and walked towards Zhou Sui.
Zhou Sui was a little nervous, but not very afraid of him. She pulled Zhou An and walked a few steps towards him. She lowered her head and said, "Hello."
Xing Ming bit down on the cigarette, his face showing no emotion under the smoke: "Nothing more?"
"I'm sorry." Zhou Sui knew that what she said had caused trouble, and she lowered her head feeling guilty and uneasy, "I...I didn't know you..."
"Didn't know what?" Xing Ming raised his eyebrows. .
Zhou Sui glanced at the confused Zhou An, suppressed the second half of the sentence, and suddenly interrupted: "Can you give me some antipyretic medicine?"
Xing Ming: "..."
He looked at Zhou Sui, and then looked at Zhou An, rolled his eyes and asked, "For whom?"
Zhou Sui raised her head and looked at him. She had been so worried these past few days that she hadn't eaten or slept well. Her eyes were bloodshot and her face was a little pale: "A stranger who is about to die of illness."
She was worried about seeing the mocking expression in Xing Ming's eyes. It was obvious that she couldn't save herself, but she still wanted to save others.
But the man just took a puff of cigarette. Through the curling smoke, it was impossible to distinguish the emotions in his eyes. Only the hoarse voice fell in the air: "Follow me."
